About the role
This position is based at SWISS, a purpose-built family violence crisis refuge providing 24/7 support and accommodation to people who identify as female and their accompanying children.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Practitioner works collaboratively within an integrated refuge team to respond to the needs of women and children through tailored case management support.
The Practitioner provides immediate after-hours crisis support to women and children fleeing family violence and may receive referrals from Safe Steps or The Orange Door. The role also includes managing a small caseload of clients receiving case management support.
Working within a specialist family violence practice framework, the Practitioner provides clients with information, advocacy, referrals and support, with a strong focus on risk assessment and safety.
About you
Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in social work or a related discipline, compliant with the Family Violence Minimum Qualifications (Recommendation 209).
· Experience supporting women and children with complex needs and risk factors in the community services sector.
· Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and prioritise clients’ risks and needs, including through the use of the MARAM framework.
· Demonstrated experience providing case management support to people experiencing family violence, including safety planning, advocacy, consultation, referral coordination and case noting.
· Resilience and the capacity to support clients who have experienced trauma.
· Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and build strong, authentic and supportive working relationships.
· Ability to recognise the limits of your own expertise and seek advice or refer clients to appropriate specialists when required.
· Commitment to best-practice service delivery and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid ‘Employment’ category - Working with Children Check Clearance. The candidate will need to have successfully completed wayss pre-employment screening, including a police and identity check.
