Family Violence Practitioner - Personal Safety Initiative Coordinator (PSI)

 

wayss is the largest provider of housing and family violence services in Melbourne’s South East. We support people experiencing family violence, housing insecurity and homelessness to achieve safety, stability and dignity.

We are seeking a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner – PSI Coordinator to lead the local delivery of the Personal Safety Initiative (PSI) while also providing coverage support within the Family Advocacy and Support Service (FASS) at the Dandenong Federal Circuit and Family Law Court.

 

 

About the Role

 

Reporting to the FV Manager – Practice & Partnerships, this specialist role coordinates the local delivery of the Personal Safety Initiative (PSI), supporting victim‑survivors at high risk to remain safely in their homes through technology‑enabled responses and strong local partnerships.

The role also provides coverage support to the Family Advocacy and Support Service (FASS) at the Dandenong Family Law Court, delivering non‑legal advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning and referrals in line with the MARAM framework. You will work closely with courts, police, sector partners and statewide PSI networks to improve safety outcomes and service effectiveness.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

 

You are an experienced family violence practitioner who can work confidently in complex, high‑risk environments.

You will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related discipline
  • Compliance with Family Violence Minimum Qualifications (Rec 209)
  • Demonstrated experience in MARAM risk assessment, safety planning and family violence case management
  • Knowledge of the Victorian family violence system and reform context
  • Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving and crisis‑response skills
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across multi‑agency settings
  • A current Driver’s Licence and Employment Working with Children Check
