We’re seeking a proactive and skilled Assistant Accountant to play a key role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across a range of accounting functions.

About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for a range of finance and management accounting tasks, including:
- Accurately record financial transactions in MYOB in a timely manner.
- Prepare and post month-end journals and accruals.
- Calculate and maintain employee entitlement liabilities.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
- Prepare lease accounting templates and journals in line with AASB 16.
- Assist with year-end reporting and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with PAYG, BAS, and other funding obligations, including grant acquittals.
- Provide backup support for Payroll and Accounts Payable.
- Contribute to month-end processes and other accounting tasks as required.
- Support general office administration, reporting, and documentation
About You
You are a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You bring:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Commerce.
- CPA/CA qualification (or currently working towards).
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles.
- Proven experience in a similar accounting role.
- Demonstrated experience with payroll processing (desirable).
- Proficiency in MYOB (preferred), payroll software and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- A track record of contributing to process improvements and driving positive change
Requirements:
- A current Driver’s Licence and valid ‘Employment’ category Working with Children Check
- Successful completion of wayss pre-employment screening (police and identity check)
