Specialist Family Violence Practitioner – CALD Responses

wayss is seeking a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner – CALD Responses to provide culturally responsive, trauma‑informed support to individuals and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds experiencing family violence.

This role sits at the intersection of safety, advocacy, and cultural understanding, working closely with clients, communities, and service partners to deliver respectful, inclusive responses that centre dignity, empowerment, and lived experience.

 

About the Role

As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality case management and risk assessment for victim survivors from CALD communities
  • Provide culturally safe, strengths‑based support guided by trauma‑ and violence‑informed practice
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners across the family violence system
  • Contribute specialist knowledge to improve organisational and system responses to CALD communities
  • Support safety planning, advocacy, referrals, and system navigation

 

What You’ll Bring

You will bring:

  • Experience working in family violence, community services, or a related field
  • A strong understanding of CALD communities, cultural safety, and intersectionality
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and relationship‑building skills
  • Knowledge of family violence legislation, risk frameworks, and referral pathways
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services, or a related discipline
  • Valid Driver’s License and Working with Children Check (Employment category)
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment screening including a Police check.

Bilingual skills and experience working closely with CALD communities are highly valued.
