Youth Development Worker – Case Coordinator

wayss is seeking a Youth Development Worker – Case Coordinator to deliver strengths‑based, trauma‑informed support to young people and their families. This role focuses on early intervention, case coordination, and meaningful engagement to improve safety, wellbeing, and life outcomes for children and young people experiencing vulnerability.

Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in walking alongside young people, amplifying their voices, and supporting them to navigate services and systems with confidence.

 

About the Role

As a Youth Development Worker – Case Coordinator, you will:

  • Using an Advantaged Thinking approach, undertake comprehensive risk assessments and assessing and prioritizing the client’s immediate social support and housing needs and goals.
  • Provide case coordination and direct support to children and young people living at the refuge. 
  • Fast paced role, with young people being housed for 6 weeks.
  • Develop and implement individualised case plans using strengths‑based and child‑centred approaches.
  • Engage in meaningful relationship‑based practice, building trust and stability over time.
  • Proactively collaborating and networking with schools, services, and community partners.
  • Support referrals, advocacy, service navigation and resources.
  • Maintain professional documentation and contribute to team planning and reflective practice.

 

What You’ll Bring

You will bring:

  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in a community or human services setting.
  • Case management experience
  • Strong understanding of youth development, trauma‑informed practice, and early intervention
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage young people in culturally safe and inclusive ways
  • Knowledge of relevant child, youth, and family service systems
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in youth work, social work, community development, or a related discipline

Experience working with diverse communities and early‑years or adolescent cohorts is highly regarded.

This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid ‘Employment’ category - Working with Children Check Card. The candidate will need to have successfully completed wayss pre-employment screening, including a police check.
